Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens will be bringing that iconic theme tune back to cinemas in December 2015 with an all new director and a mix of familar and fresh-faced cast members. It's going to be one of the biggest movies of the decade, and we can't wait to see how it turns out.
And the same goes for people who work within the massive world of Disney, as we found out when we talked to some Pixar folks.
Long time Pixar producer Jonas Rivera was in town to chat about his new film – the pretty amazing Inside Out – and in the minutes before our main chat we chanced on the topic of Star Wars. And his take was pretty familar; "I'm so excited about Star Wars."
Naturally we had to ask if he was privy to any more information – being part of the huge Disney corporation which now includes Pixar and LucasFilm. Does he know any secrets?
"No! They do such a good job and I’m glad they do," said the enthusiastic producer who has worked at Pixar since Toy Story. "I’m friends with some of the folks on it, with Roger Guyett [of ILM] who’s doing the visual effects and it is lock and key as you can imagine. I see what you see, the Comic Con clips."
On the one hand its a shame we couldn't get an inside scoop but its also great to hear that the sense of mystery surrounding the film is being mostly preserved. At this point, we've seen about as much as we want to of the galaxy far, far away – at least until it gets unleashed on an IMAX screen.
Rivera's last thought on The Force Awakens had to do with the look of the film; "They do seem be in that great narrow lane of nostalgia with the future, from what I’ve seen." And it is looking like an incredible vision of a time after the original trilogy we know and love.
Star Wars The Force Awakens is in cinemas in December 2015.
Inside Out is coming on the 24th of July 2015.
